Yangzhou | Popular local Chinese restaurant

During my trip to Yangzhou, the taxi driver recommended Shuangdong Hotel (Dongguan Street Branch) at the end of a small alley on Guandong Street. At first, I thought it wouldn't be crowded, but it was almost full, with only two or three tables available. The boiled shrimp was delicious. The simpler the cooking method, the more the freshness of the ingredients shines through. The shrimp was very tender and tasty. The beef soup with sesame cake was amazing. The curry beef soup was incredibly flavorful, and the sesame cake was large—about ten pieces, which was more than enough for three people to share! The stir-fried soft-shell was a revelation. I didn’t know a dish could be so hearty! It had almost no onions, just ingredients, with some scallions and other garnishes. It was really good. The smoked fish was sweet without being greasy, and the crispy outer layer was absolutely delicious!
