Exploring the Source of the Han Dynasty-3-Day Tour to Pengcheng and Xuzhou

Day 1⃣️: Beijing morning 🚄 Xuzhou East. It took less than 3 hours to drive and we arrived in Xuzhou at noon. Take Metro Line 1 directly from the high-speed rail station and arrive at your residence (Wanda Orange Hotel) in 3 stops. It was dinner time, and the first meal was Xuzhou’s specialty, clay pot chicken. I reviewed a restaurant next to a residential area and ordered the signature clay pot chicken, squirrel fish, scrambled eggs with tung flowers, and grilled tofu. The home-style flavor is delicious, the clay pot chicken is full of flavor, the tung flower scrambled eggs are beautiful and healthy, the sweet and sour taste of squirrel fish is very refreshing with the clay pot chicken, a meal with chicken and fish is less than 200 yuan, Xuzhou is really delicious and economical. The first attraction in the afternoon was Qianlong Palace, which is next to Xuzhou Museum. The small courtyard is very beautiful and we finished visiting it in half an hour! It takes an hour to climb up the mountain from the north gate of Yunlong Mountain to reach the viewing platform. There are temples on the mountain, and the Xinghua Zen Temple is very large. From the viewing platform you can see the whole picture of Xuzhou city and Yunlong Lake. If the view is good, you can see it more clearly! If you want to take the cable car, you need to go up the mountain from the West Gate. Yunlong Lake is opposite the West Gate. We walked down from Yunlong Mountain, passed through several residential areas, and arrived at Ximatai, just in time to catch the last wave of tourists entering the scenic area before 16:30. The scenic area is not big. It commemorates Xiang Yu's great achievements. There are also some cultural relics. The pavilions and terraces are decorated with spring flowers, which is very pleasant. Ximatai was built on Hubu Mountain. Hubu Mountain is half a step into the history of Xuzhou. The residential villages in Hubu Mountain are also worth visiting. Cui Tao’s former residence is here, built against the mountain! There is a small shop making "incense" inside, it is very exquisite and we all bought some! I drank some Xuzhou yogurt and then went to find something to eat. I wanted to have some Xuzhou barbecue for dinner, so I walked to the nearby "Green Land Three Sheep". There were already more than 50 tables lined up in front of me. After waiting for a while, I gave up. I went to the "Sister Fu's Hand-rolled Noodles" recommended by blogger Lao Qu. There was a seat when we arrived, but the food was not served quickly. It was the first time I tasted sweet vinegar dipped in meat skewers. It tasted like ordinary rice vinegar mixed with sugar and a little sesame oil, and it went well with the meat skewers to relieve the greasiness. His restaurant is very special, they don’t have bowls, so they use disposable plastic instead of vinegar and dip the meat skewers in it! The meat skewers were OK, with lots of seasoning. It cost me 150, which is a really reasonable price. It is said that most of the shops in Xuzhou that sell hand-rolled noodles are barbecue restaurants. Later, when I passed by "Jia Qing", there were also many people queuing. Actually, it's just a taste. Fuguo Street and Fengchu Street are two food streets. We navigated to the Xingshi community, where there are several izakayas, sushi shops and other small shops. The two food streets were full of delicious food. We walked and shopped, bought some date cakes, and went back to the hotel to rest! Day 2⃣️: Check in the famous "Ma Shi Street" sha soup for breakfast. The sha soup tasted good, but the other dishes were just average. I didn't get the eight-grain fried dough sticks. Opposite the restaurant is the Xianghe Morning Market, which is basically for breakfast and doesn't sell anything else. The museum opens at 9 o'clock. We arrived early and strolled around the small park at the entrance for a while. The museum requires reservations 7 days in advance. The museum is not big and has 3 floors. The most famous Jade Clothes with Gold Threads, Jade Clothes with Silver Threads, and Jade Clothes with Bronze Threads are in the middle exhibition hall on the second floor. There are so many treasures in the museum that it will take about 3 hours. In order to eat the vegetarian noodles at Po Lin Monastery, we took a taxi directly from the museum to Po Lin Monastery. Although this was not the best route, it met our needs. There were a lot of people at Po Lin Monastery. We queued for half an hour for the vegetarian noodles. The noodles were in a big bowl and the ingredients included mushrooms, yellow lily, fungus and gluten. The soup was very fresh, and I also ordered a box of vegetarian dim sum, which tasted good too. Many young people were following along, and a lot of people were taking photos. The Po Lin Monastery was very beautiful, and the photos were great. Xuzhou’s Yunlong Mountain and Yunlong Lake are a 5A scenic spot. I didn’t go to Yunlong Lake yesterday, but today I have plenty of time, so I went to Yunlong Lake to enjoy the scenery. Yunlong Lake is very large and has beautiful scenery, with the lake and mountains complementing each other. There are many small shops and markets in Hubu Mountain and Huilongwo, where you can buy some small items. I really like this quaint neighborhood, which exudes a sense of relaxation. We had dinner at Da Zhang Lao Mo Village, where all the dishes were representative. We ordered the signature baked steamed buns, baked steamed buns, fried fish with garlic, a steamed dish and a casserole of wild vegetables, all of which were very successful. Had a very satisfying meal. Walking from Hubu Mountain to Pengcheng Square, passing by the City Wall Museum, it was very shocking. The gate tower of Xuzhou Confucian Temple is the tallest building in Jiangbei, and the surrounding area is very lively and modern. There are a lot of young people gathered here. Before coming here, it was hard to imagine that a third or fourth tier city could be so modern, open and civilized! Day 3⃣️: On Sunday morning, the temperature rose and I could feel the sunshine and warmth in the morning. Xuzhou is a relaxed city. I looked for several breakfast shops around 8 o'clock but they were not open yet. I randomly picked one and there were many people eating there. After breakfast, take a taxi to Guishan Han Tomb. The Guishan Han Tomb is known as a unique site in China and embodies extremely high archaeological and historical value. The ticket to Guishan Scenic Area is 80 yuan. Booking in advance can get you a discount. The entire scenic area is very large, including the Han Tombs, Dianshi Garden, and the Imperial Edict Museum. The visit to the Han Tomb takes about half an hour. If you have enough time, you can visit the surrounding parks. It is spring and the apricot and crabapple blossoms are very beautiful. It is more than enough to leave about 3 hours for the Guishan Scenic Area! Take a taxi from Guishan Han Tomb to Chu King Mausoleum. The ticket to Chu King Mausoleum in Han Culture Scenic Area is 90 yuan, and the electric car is 20 yuan. You can get a 10 yuan discount if you buy the ticket one day in advance. Several of the museums require ticket verification. In addition to the royal tombs, there are also Han Dynasty Terracotta Warriors, which are about 50 cm tall, much smaller than the Qin Dynasty Terracotta Warriors. There is a separate exhibition area for the underwater Terracotta Warriors, and the exhibition hall is built on the lake. After leaving the Underwater Terracotta Warriors Exhibition Hall, we passed the Cultural Corridor and arrived at the Xuzhou Han Culture Museum. The scenery along the way was beautiful. Opposite is the Han Shu Image Decryption Museum. These two pavilions are very modern and are also part of the scenic area where ticket inspection is required. There is a temple on the back mountain. You can hike up the mountain if you have time. There is no entrance fee. There is also the Liu Family Ancestral Hall on the way to the main gate, which is a bit of a filler! There are lakes and scenery in the scenic area, the environment is good, and it is also a good place for spring outings and flower viewing. We had Xuzhou's specialty steamed pork with pork belly for lunch. "Guaiweiyu" is a chain restaurant. It is always crowded during lunch time. The price is affordable and the taste is good. There are also packaged finished products available for purchase. After returning to the hotel to pack my luggage and check out, I went to the nearby Wanda to buy some snacks to take back. There was a store called "Fat Prince Mi Sandao" that had some Chinese snacks, so I brought some to try. The train returns to Beijing from Xuzhou East Station at around 5 o'clock! Food: Clay pot chicken, garlic fried fish, baked steamed buns, barbecue, and steamed pork are all good as main meals. Sha soup, steamed buns and rice noodles can be eaten as breakfast. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to eat the Bagu Youtiao. You can try date cakes and halal snacks. As for the roasted pig's trotters, egg-filled pancakes and other delicacies that are popular among young netizens, eating eighteen meals a day is not suitable for our age. Transportation: Xuzhou has 5 railway stations and a major transportation hub, so it is very convenient to take a train. There is a subway in Xuzhou, so you can take it; it is also very convenient to take a taxi, and it is beautiful to ride a shared bicycle in Yunlong Lake! Attractions: Except for Guishan Han Tomb and Po Lin Monastery, other attractions are in the city. There are entrance fees for Guishan Han Tomb and Chu King Mausoleum. There are discounts if you buy one day in advance. No entrance fees are required for other attractions. There are many small museums in the city, don't miss them if you pass by. You can have a great time in 3 days. If you have 4 days, you can arrange to visit the Yellow River New Village and Beidongshan Royal Tombs, both of which we did not go to.
