Ximatai

In 206 BC, after Xiang Yu defeated the Qin Dynasty, he declared himself the King of Western Chu and established his capital in Pengcheng (now Xuzhou). He built a high platform on Nanshan Mountain, south of the city, to watch horse shows, military exercises, and parades, hence the name Ximatai. As one of the oldest surviving historical sites in Xuzhou, Ximatai has witnessed the passage of time. Although most of the original structures have been lost to history, the restored site now stands tall and magnificent, shining brightly for all to see. Although the original Tai Tou Temple, Sanyi Temple, and Minghuan Temple are no longer there, visitors can still feel the weight of history. Standing on Ximatai, you can feel the dust of history gently brushing past, see the red walls and green tiles, and hear the ancient sound of horse hooves and war drums, as you imagine the heroic and legendary figure of Xiang Yu, and hear the beautiful and poignant song of "Farewell My Concubine." Today, Ximatai is one of the most famous historical sites in Xuzhou, attracting visitors who come to admire the style of the King of Western Chu and experience the unique charm of this historic city!
