Yibin Town (Siwen·Jiusi)

Compared to crowded tourist hotspots, I prefer exploring small counties and towns. This time, I stumbled upon a "Little Guilin" in Yibin—Xingwen Jiusi Town. It feels so welcoming here, like having scenic spots right at your doorstep that rival famous destinations. I fear it might become too popular, yet also worry it remains undiscovered. In September, Jiusi's streets are fragrant with osmanthus, and you can even spot sea buckthorn— said to be a staple food during the Long March. You can try it, though it's tart and slightly astringent. By the way, this is where the Red Army marched during the Long March, rich in revolutionary culture. Red-themed landmarks line the roads, and the Red Army Long March Cultural Park pays tribute to history— yet it’s not overly solemn. If you’re with friends, you can even go bamboo-shoot picking— crisp, fresh, and sweet, it’s quite fun! Before leaving, don’t forget to take home some handmade candies— making the whole trip sweet from start to finish.
