🍂 Autumn in Xi’an – A City Wrapped in Gold

If you’ve never seen Xi’an in autumn, you’re missing out on one of the most beautiful and peaceful seasons this historic city has to offer. I visited during late October and wow—Xi’an really knows how to show off when the leaves start to turn! The weather was perfect—cool, crisp mornings and sunny afternoons that weren’t too hot or too cold. It’s that perfect hoodie-weather season. I could finally walk around without sweating or freezing, which made all the difference in exploring. I started my autumn adventure with a stroll along the Ancient City Wall. The view from up there was magical—trees below painted in all shades of orange, yellow, and red. Locals were biking along the wall, couples taking selfies with the foliage, and the breeze just carried this calming, cozy vibe. If you're into photography or just love peaceful walks, autumn is the time to go. Then I visited the Big Wild Goose Pagoda area, which was surrounded by golden ginkgo trees. It felt like walking through a fairytale. There’s something so calming about watching leaves slowly fall around ancient temples. Even the Tang Paradise Park looked extra dreamy with autumn colors reflected in the lake. One of the best things? The crowds weren’t as crazy as in summer. It was easier to take pictures, get a good seat at local teahouses, and enjoy the local snacks without the long lines. Speaking of snacks—roasted chestnuts and sweet potatoes from street vendors hit different when it’s chilly out! Even just walking through random neighborhoods like the Muslim Quarter or cycling around Qujiang Pool Park felt more special in autumn. The light is softer, the mood is quieter, and you get to see locals really enjoying the season too—flying kites, playing music in the parks, or just soaking in the sun. If you're planning a trip to Xi’an and don’t mind packing a few layers, I highly recommend coming in autumn. It’s not just about the tourist spots—it’s the atmosphere, the golden light, the crunch of leaves under your shoes, and the way everything feels more relaxed. There’s beauty everywhere you turn. Xi’an in autumn is the kind of experience that makes you slow down, breathe deeper, and smile at the little things. 🍁
