1. When I arrived in Xiantao, I felt that the locals were also attached to the old name. The road is called Mianzhou Avenue, and the scenic spot is called Mianyang Town. If they prefer "Mianyang," why did they change the name to Xiantao? The locals said that when Mianyang was established as a city, there was already a "Mianyang" in Sichuan, so they had to change the name to avoid duplication. But the characters are different, so what's the problem? On closer inspection, the pinyin is exactly the same, which is indeed troublesome. Is it only because of historical reasons? Oh well! I have a friend from Mianyang who shouts "I'm hungry" when the weather is hot. 2. Xiantao, surrounded by lakes and rich in natural resources. Xiantao is a typical plain, without a single hill in sight. This land used to be surrounded by lakes, which were gradually filled in after liberation to build urban roads. The locals said that there were very few casualties during the war because when the Japanese came, every household would row their boats to the lake to hide, making it impossible to catch anyone. Even if they were occupied, they didn't carry out massacres here because the area was rich in resources and people were needed everywhere to work. 3. The area is rich in fragrant rice, peaches, crabs, and lotus roots. The plants grow very well because there is never a shortage of water. Every household has no courtyard walls, and the front and back doors lead directly to rivers and lakes. People here learn to swim from a young age. A place surrounded by lakes should be the best place to live in an agricultural society. But if it's truly livable, how could it have given birth to so many revolutionaries like Chen Youliang from different eras? Haha. 4. Mianyang Town: Blessed by nature, yet desolate and lonely. On the way to Mianyang Town, I asked the driver why there was such a town. He said that it used to be all lakes, with beautiful natural scenery, but it was difficult to get in because there were no roads. After liberation, the lakes were filled and roads were built, greatly improving transportation, and this scenic spot came into being. 5. Entering the scenic area, I indeed saw a large expanse of waterscape. The further I went, the more surprised I became. The scenic area was so big! There were ancient buildings one after another. When I reached the Jinshi Hall, I thought it was almost over, but after climbing the hall and looking into the distance, I was really shocked. There was still a large area of continuous pavilions and towers! The reason I was so surprised was mainly because these pavilions and towers were mostly empty. About 90% of the buildings were vacant, with no businesses or tourists. Walking inside felt very surreal. It was really beautiful, but there was really nothing there, not even a bench to sit down and rest. There were no people, but everything was clean and tidy, and the plants were in good condition.
