Cherry Blossom Season in Xi'an: Don't Miss Qinglong Temple

Qinglong Temple, built during the Sui Dynasty and flourishing in the Tang Dynasty, holds historical significance as a place where Japanese envoys to Tang China, including Master Kukai and five other monks, studied Buddhism. Unfortunately, the temple was destroyed during the Song Dynasty but has been restored in modern times. It now features the Huiguo-Kukai Memorial Hall and a Japanese-style garden. The garden is adorned with pines, bamboo, plum trees, willows, and moonflowers, and notably, over a thousand cherry blossom trees imported from Japan. Every March and April, Qinglong Temple becomes a popular destination for cherry blossom viewing in Xi'an. Admission to Qinglong Temple is free, but during cherry blossom season, tickets are hard to come by without prior reservation. Reservations require a mainland Chinese phone number, and on the day of the visit, tickets were already sold out. However, by explaining the lack of a mainland phone number and identifying as a Taiwanese visitor, entry was successfully granted.
