Wuyishan Scenic Area does not charge an entrance fee. I bought a 3-day sightseeing bus ticket for CNY 95. A 1-day ticket is CNY 7, and a 2-day ticket is CNY 85. Today is the third day, and my destination is Da Hong Pao and Shuilian Cave, which are near the north gate. We live near the south gate, so we entered the scenic area from the south gate and took a shuttle bus to the transfer point at Wuyi Palace, where we transferred to a shuttle bus to the north scenic area and went to Da Hong Pao first. After entering the scenic area, there is a signpost that directs you to Da Hong Pao by going over the mountain to the right (there is nothing to see). Do not follow the signpost. Instead, take the left path along the creek. It is flat, cool, and shorter. Accompanied by the fragrance of tea, we went to "worship" the legendary six mother trees of Da Hong Pao. Near Da Hong Pao, there is a Buddhist temple called Tianxin Yongle Zen Temple, where Buddhists can cleanse their minds with the sound of Buddhist music and incense. It is best not to take the Fragrant Rock Path, as it is a 4.5 km mountain road to Shuilian Cave. It is recommended to return to the bus stop and take a bus to Shuilian Cave. The transfer station is about 2 km from Shuilian Cave, including a 500 m climb. Shuilian Cave is the largest cave in Wuyishan. It was formed by water erosion of the rock layers, and only two small streams flow down. If the water drops did not splash on your head, you would not know there was water. Today was relatively easy. To avoid heat stroke, we returned to the homestay to rest in the afternoon. If it is not too hot, two days is enough for the core scenic area of Wuyishan. For dinner, we went to Minwei Private Kitchen near Da Hong Pao Commercial Street. It serves local dishes, and the osmanthus lotus seeds are delicious.
