Exhibition: Elegant Charm of Clay Sculptures - Huishan Clay Figurines Art Exhibition

At the Wuxi Museum, I visited the 'Elegant Charm of Clay Sculptures - Huishan Clay Figurines Art Exhibition,' which is one of the permanent exhibitions at the Wuxi Museum. Huishan clay figurines are a unique art form from the famous southern city of Wuxi, exuding the fragrance of the earth. This excellent traditional craft has been listed as a national intangible cultural heritage and has a thousand-year cultural tradition. Since their inception, Huishan clay figurines have been imbued with the unique customs and traditions of the Jiangnan region. In their development process, besides being influenced by various social factors such as politics, economy, and culture, the temples, gardens, ancestral halls, neighborhoods, opera, carvings, temple fairs, incense associations of Wuxi Huishan, and the 'rice markets' along the Grand Canal and the ancient canals of Wuxi, have all impacted the artistic characteristics of Huishan clay figurines. Wuxi Museum
