Foguang Temple, Xinzhou | Tang Dynasty Heritage

|Tang Dynasty Heritage. Foguang Temple is located in the Foguang Mountain in the northeast of Doucun Town, 32 kilometers northeast of Wutai County, Shanxi Province (at the foot of the South Wutai Mountain). It was first built during the reign of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty (471-499). In the 11th year of Dazhong of the Tang Dynasty (857), it was rebuilt. In 1937, Liang Sicheng, Lin Huiyin and others conducted surveying and mapping work at Doucun Foguang Temple outside Shanxi Province, and discovered precious relics such as Tang Dynasty buildings, colored sculptures and murals. Among them, the East Hall is considered to be built in the Tang Dynasty, and the hall still preserves Tang Dynasty colored sculptures and murals, known as the "Asian Buddha Light".
