Avatar mountains in Zhangjiajie

The famous movie ‘Avatar’ was inspired by the mountains of Zhangjiajie National forest, in Hunan province. Walking through the park, climbing and enjoying the view from the numerous terraces leave you with a mixed of emotions. The park is huge and you need at least 2 days to see the most important attractions. There are several cableways in canyons connecting the mountains, and one must-go attraction is an elevator entirely made of glass that takes you to the top of the mountain. The village at the entrance of the park is immersed in the nature, surrounded by the mountains and streams and offers many options of bed & breakfast and boutique hotels for an unforgettable experience. #nationalpark #unforgettableexperiences #scenicspotguide #travelinspiration #naturalwonders

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park aka “Avatar Mountains” in Hunan province is one of the most beautiful spots in China and worldwide. 🇨🇳 The formations are so unique and the whole scenery is absolutely breathtaking, it really feels like out of a movie. ⛰ It is so easy to get to Zhangjiajie, there is an airport there and plenty of very cool hotels near the scenic area. 🍃 The park area is huge but there are buses included in the entrance ticket going to all the main spots. 🚌 There are also a few cable car rides you cannot miss because they literally take you within the gorgeous mountains. 🤩 Oh, and not to mention that Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is also home to the world’s biggest glass bridge, world’s highest bungee jumping and world’s highest and fastest outdoor elevator. 🌍 #awesomepic#scenicspotguide#travelinspiration#unforgettableexperiences#instagramworthydestinations#couplestrip#holidayvacation#wintergetaway#tripinspired

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park

Zhangjiajie is a huge park in Hunan renowned for its bizarre pillar-like mountains. Said to have inspired the floating Hallelujah Mountains in the film Avatar, the peaks of Zhangjiajie, although they don't fly, are even more incredible for being real. The 'floating mountain' effect can be seen when it's foggy and only the peaks rise above the clouds. It was hot and sunny when I was there, so I didn't see this view, but it was beautiful all the same. Some areas, around infrastructure like the glass elevator, the cable car, and so on, can be very crowded, but there is also an impressive network of trails and it's possible to do some good hiking whilst avoiding both the crowds and modern development. Few other people bother climbing hundreds of steps when there's a lift 😆 Be sure to carry enough water if hiking and watch out for the monkeys, which are very good at stealing food.🐒 #leaveyourmark #urbanexplorer #lightthecity #zhangjiajie #hunan #china #mountains #hiking #landscapes #naturalwonders
