Visiting Hubei Provincial Museum (Part 1): Ten National Treasures Prohibited from Leaving China

The Hubei Provincial Museum, located on Donghu Road, Wuchang District, Wuhan City, is a National First-Class Museum and one of the first eight centrally and locally co-constructed national museums in China. The Hubei Provincial Museum houses ten cultural relics prohibited from leaving the country (among which, the Guodian Chu Bamboo Slips *Laozi* is the B set of the A, B, and C sets). What's remarkable is that all of these are currently on permanent display as originals, second only to the National Museum of China in the number of permanently displayed artifacts (195). Below, I'll share the ten cultural relics from the Hubei Provincial Museum that are prohibited from leaving the country. Here's a list according to their exhibition halls: 1️⃣ Sword of Goujian, King of Yue (South Hall 2F) ⭐Spring and Autumn Period: Sword of Goujian, King of Yue 2️⃣ Marquis Yi of Zeng (South Hall 1F) ⭐Warring States Period: Marquis Yi of Zeng Chime Bells ⭐Warring States Period: Marquis Yi of Zeng Bronze Zun Pan (wine vessel and basin) 3️⃣ Marquis Yi of Zeng (South Hall 2F) ⭐Warring States Period: Outer Coffin of Marquis Yi of Zeng ⭐Warring States Period: Sixteen-Section Dragon and Phoenix Jade Pendant ⭐Warring States Period: Painted Lacquer Wooden Mandarin Duck-Shaped Box 4️⃣ Eight Hundred Years of Chu State (South Hall 2F) ⭐Warring States Period: Painted Lacquer Wooden Screen-Shaped Se (zither) Stand (no independent display case) Note: Two painted lacquer wooden screen-shaped se stands and a painted lacquer wooden bird and beast pattern arrow quiver panel are displayed in the same cabinet. The lower one (number 2) from top to bottom is the artifact prohibited from leaving the country, namely the se stand unearthed from Tomb No. 1 at Wangshan, Jiangling. ⭐Warring States Period: Guodian Chu Bamboo Slips *Laozi* (B set) 5️⃣ Looking Up at the Chu Sky - Hubei Historical and Cultural Exhibition (North Hall 2F) ⭐Shang Dynasty: Large Jade Ge (halberd) (no independent display case) Note: Several jade ge are displayed in the same cabinet. The largest one, labeled "Large Jade Ge," is the artifact prohibited from leaving the country. ⭐Qin Dynasty: Yunmeng Shuihudi Qin Bamboo Slips *Yushu* (Legal Documents) Note: Many pieces of the Yunmeng Shuihudi Qin Bamboo Slips are exhibited.
