Chillon Castle

Chillon Castle, built in the 13th century during the medieval period, is located on a small island near the shore, making it appear as if it is floating on the lake, with beautiful mountains as a backdrop. Originally, it was just a fortress used to collect tolls from merchants passing through. With a Swiss Pass, you can enter the castle for free. You can follow the arrows to explore various rooms, such as the room that once imprisoned Francois Bonivard from 1530-1536. There is a plaque for Lord Byron, who made Chillon Castle famous by writing 'Prisoner of Chillon' in 1816, inspired by the story of Francois Bonivard. Additionally, the cellar, which was used to store Clos de Chillon wine, is also accessible and the wine is available for purchase at the exit.
