Lima

Lima is a beautiful coastal city perched on cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, making it the city most similar to Shanghai. The primary purpose of my trip was to experience Inca civilization, followed by an initial exploration of the Amazon rainforest. We allocated two days for Machu Picchu. Originally, we planned to visit the site on the first day and hike up the mountain on the second. However, we later found out that the mountain trail was closed, and two alternative routes were offered as compensation. Although we didn't get to view Machu Picchu from above, we thoroughly explored the entire site inside and out. Machu Picchu spans over 90,000 square kilometers and sits on a mountain at an altitude of 2,350 meters. The roaring Urubamba River winds around the mountain, surrounded by dense tropical jungle, which kept it hidden until explorer Bingham's discovery, earning it a place among the New Seven Wonders of the World.
