It declined for a while, but in the Edo period, it was revived under the protection of Keishoin, the biological mother of the fifth shogun Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, and it was widely believed nationwide as "woman Takano". Because it was far from the former capital, its unique Buddhist culture has matured. The Buddha statues representing the early Heian period, including the Buddha statues of the clothing pattern using the carving method called Muroyu-ji Temple, have been designated as national treasures and important cultural properties, and have a mysterious beauty that harmonises with the surrounding nature. In 2020, the "Homonoden", which houses Buddha statues, was opened.
