🇮🇹 Turin "Roma Street"

#Great Places in September 2024 Via Roma is an important street in the center of Turin, starting from Piazza Castello in the north, to Porta Nuova Station in the south, passing through Piazza CLN and the famous Piazza San Carlo, and finally arriving at Piazza Carlo Felice. At the beginning of the 20th century, the street still retained its Baroque style. In 1933, the section from Piazza San Carlo to Piazza della Castello was demolished and rebuilt, and an arcade was added. It was opened to the public on October 28 of the same year. The section south to Newgate Station was completed on October 28, 1937. After reconstruction, Via Roma became a main shopping street, with characteristic arcades on both sides and elegant cafes displaying exquisite furniture from the period when Turin was the capital of the Kingdom of Italy.
