Who else wants to escape Shanghai on the weekend? 🙋 Since I started hiking, my mind is all about heading into the mountains whenever I have a day off. I accidentally discovered that Tonglu is perfect for working people’s weekend trips—it’s great for resting and relaxing, and also satisfies hikers with a day of leisurely trekking. 👇 Here’s a two-day, one-night itinerary from Shanghai to Tonglu. Save this post and you can go anytime~ 1️⃣ Maling Ancient Trail (Friendly for beginners and kids) Route: Shishe Village → Maoping Village → Shaojia → Baibu Street → Xiekengkou → Luci Village (About 4 hours total, lots of shade along the way so no sunburn!) 🚙 Transportation ❶ Self-driving: Park at Luci Village → Take a 10-minute taxi to Shishe Village to start hiking ❷ High-speed train: Tonglu Station → Taxi directly to Shishe Village (ps: Don’t worry, taxis in Tonglu are very convenient!) ✔️ Tips: If you’re staying in a village, drop off your luggage and check in first, then start hiking light! 🏡 Accommodation ❶ If you want to stay in the mountains and enjoy tranquility with large floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking lush greenery, choose a homestay in the villages. Shishe Village and Luci Village are livelier with more food options, while Maoping Village is quieter and has beautiful scenery. ❷ If you want to order takeout local dishes at night, there are many hotel options in Tonglu County with good value, and it’s also close to Daqi Mountain for the next day. 2️⃣ Daqi Mountain National Forest Park + Fuchun River Cruise ❶ The cruise is near Luci Village, about a 20-minute taxi ride. I also discovered a local hidden gem—the Diaoyu Island cruise! 40 RMB/person for a 1-hour private boat, enjoying the river breeze and ink-wash painting-like scenery on both sides. It’s a perfect mental spa for working people~ ❷ Daqi Mountain National Forest Park offers easy hiking, bamboo groves, waterfalls, water play, and koi fish watching. It’s less crowded in the afternoon! ✔️ Tips: If you don’t want to try the “Flying Squirrel in the Forest” zipline, turn right on the small path and reach the exit in 10 minutes! Free way down, saves time and effort. 🍜 Tonglu Food ❶ Luci Village farmhouse dishes: You can’t go wrong anywhere! The small mixed fish is delicious and the fermented rice buns are fragrant! ❷ Niangjia Restaurant: A 15-year-old establishment, about 50 RMB per person. Signature stir-fried chicken and fragrant hu mai guo pancakes—had them twice in a row. ❸ Along Yaolin Road: Yaoji Noodle Shop’s pork liver mixed with Sichuan sauce is a must-order!
