🐾 A Day of Café Hopping & Shopping in Yanaka

Yanaka is one of Tokyo’s most charming neighborhoods, perfect for a slow day of wandering through cafés, flower shops, and little boutiques. It’s a mix of retro vibes and cozy discoveries that make every stop feel special. Our first stop was Le coin, a flower shop with a café tucked inside. If you love antiques and blossoms, this place is a must. The interior is warm and romantic, and the sweets are as delicious as they are beautiful. I tried the peach parfait, which looked almost too pretty to eat. Next, we headed to spiq, a stylish café famous for seasonal cakes and desserts. Their strawberry shortcake and vacherin are especially popular, and the option to enjoy them on the terrace makes it even better. Finally, no Yanaka trip is complete without a visit to Yanaka-dō, a shop overflowing with cat-themed goods. From trinkets to ornaments, it’s a paradise for cat lovers. We couldn’t resist taking home a small cat figurine as a souvenir. 📍 Yanaka, Tokyo #tokyocafe #yanaka #cafestagram #tokyoshopping #parfaitlove #catlover #tokyotravel

Yanaka

Step Off the Beaten Track in Tokyo’s Retro Corners ✨🚶♂️🍡 Stroll the atmospheric streets of Yanaka in Nippori, where time seems to slow down and Tokyo’s old soul truly shines. Combine this with a contrasting blast of neon energy in Akihabara, the city’s otaku-culture wonderland, for a full day of exploring Tokyo’s hidden and hyper sides. Start your day in Yanaka—Taito City, Tokyo 110-0001, open all day, year-round. Wander through Yanaka Ginza for quirky shops, traditional sweet treats, and cozy local cafés (try the melon pan if you see it!). Don’t miss the peaceful Yanaka Cemetery, especially in spring for cherry blossoms, and hunt for cute cat statues around every corner. Insta-worthy angles: snap photos of the nostalgic Yanaka Ginza street, the lantern-lit alleys, and the iconic yuzu fruit stalls. After soaking up the retro vibes, take the Yamanote Line to Akihabara for a complete mood switch—just 2 stops! Dive into multi-floor anime shops, game arcades, and bustling electronics stores. Make time for a themed café if you’re up for it! Top shots: giant anime billboards, shopfronts stacked with figurines, and the evening glow when the neon comes alive. Personal tip: In Yanaka, mornings are calm and photogenic with fewer crowds, so start early. Wear comfy shoes—walking between attractions is part of the charm. In Akihabara, keep cash handy for random arcade games or gacha machines, and always check street crossings before trying to capture those busy urban scenes! #Tokyo #Yanaka #Akihabara #HiddenTokyo #TravelJapan

Tokyo Stroll | Slow Times in Nippori If Shinjuku and Shibuya represent Tokyo's speed, then Nippori offers a different kind of warmth. Instead of the oppressive feeling of towering skyscrapers, here, the quiet streets and slow pace of life are like an old soul hidden within the city. Yanaka Ginza Shopping Street: Ordinary yet Warm Everyday Life Entering Yanaka Ginza Shopping Street, you're immediately enveloped by the vibrant atmosphere of life. The aroma of croquettes from the stalls, the charcoal smoke rising from grilled skewers, and the sweetness of traditional snacks are all part of everyday life in the shitamachi area. Especially at dusk, when the setting sun paints the streets a golden color, even the air seems to soften. 🤎🤎 Transportation ❶JR Yamanote Line, Keihin-Tohoku Line: Get off at Nippori Station. ❷Keisei Electric Railway: If you're departing from Narita Airport, you can also take the Keisei Electric Railway directly to Nippori, making it very convenient. Suggested Itinerary ✔ Arrive in Nippori in the afternoon → First explore the fabric street and experience the colorful world of handmade crafts. ✔ Then, head to Yanaka Ginza Shopping Street and stroll while enjoying snacks like croquettes and skewers. ✔ In the evening → Find a higher vantage point or the end of the shopping street to admire the sunset. ✔ Enjoy dinner at a small restaurant on the shopping street, which offers a rich local atmosphere. If you prefer a slower pace, we recommend a half-day itinerary for a relaxed experience that truly captures the leisurely pace of Nippori♥
