Shibamata-Yamamoto-tei: A dialogue with historical buildings

Located behind Shibamata Taishakuten, within a 10-minute walk from Shibamata Station, Yamamoto-tei is a traditional shoin-style building with Western architectural styles. It was built in 1920 as the home of Yamamoto Einosuke, the founder of the Yamamoto Factory (camera parts manufacturing) with local roots. A Taisho-style building that combines Western architecture with traditional Japanese shoin-zukuri. The green and exquisite Japanese garden is the biggest attraction. After entering from the back of the house next to the traditional tea room, you can take off your shoes and pay the entrance fee to visit the inside of the house. The museum provides a multilingual guidebook that contains the history of Yamamoto-tei and the interior space planning. The spacious and well-ventilated rooms in the museum are designed so that you can see the garden from any side. Once inside, you can drink Japanese tea and Japanese sweets leisurely while looking at the garden from one side. It feels like a very wonderful and happy time. In pursuit of that happy and peaceful time, I occasionally want to go there. I want to visit again and again.
