If you want to experience elegance, flowers, and nature while touring Tokyo's gardens, this is the place for you!

#TokyoConquest 🌹Mukojima Hyakkaen This historic garden in Sumida Ward, Tokyo, was built in the Edo period and is famous as a "garden for enjoying flowers." I went to both Mukojima Hyakkaen and Kiyosumi Gardens during Golden Week, and while Kiyosumi Gardens is a quiet pond garden, Hyakkaen is more rustic, literary, and elegant, with seasonal flowers and haiku co-starring! Is this a botanical garden? So I thought the difference with Kiyosumi Garden was the wide variety of plants and the many plant name tags 🙆♀️ 📍Location: Higashi-Mukojima 3-chome, Sumida-ku, Tokyo 🚃Access: 8 minutes from Higashi-Mukojima Station on the Tobu Skytree Line ⌛️Opening hours: 9:00AM-5:00PM (last entry at 4:30PM) 💰Admission fee: 150 yen for adults, 70 yen for those 65 and older (free for elementary school students and younger and junior high school students living in Tokyo) 🎌Closed: New Year's holiday (12/29-1/1) 💐Characteristics and highlights A flower garden created by Edo literati • Opened around 1804 by antique dealer Sahara Kiku. "Hyakuka" means "flowers of the four seasons." The garden, which has been preserved in its natural state, does not have a pond or an artificial mountain, but is centered around wildflowers and flowering trees 🪷 There are over 230 types of plants in the garden, and something is always in bloom! The bush clover is especially famous in autumn, and the tunnel-like blooming scenery is said to be spectacular! In May, there was only the frame of the tunnel 😭 Our family bought some Inari at a place that seemed to be a private store near Mukojima Hyakkaen, then went inside the garden and sat on a bench for a picnic! There were several shady benches, and even though it was Golden Week, it wasn't that crowded, and there were quite a lot of us, six people, but we were all able to sit down 🤗 There were no tables, but we had a wonderful holiday surrounded by plants without complaint ~ #Tokyo #Garden
