Not far from Ryogoku Station on the sandy Children's Park stands a huge modern building that looks like a silver English letter "N". This ultra-modern and abstract building is the #SumidaHokusai Museum of Art, which exhibits the works of Ukiyo-e master #KatsushikaHokusai. Everything happened by accident. I was searching for indoor itineraries because it was raining, and I couldn't visit teamLab without making an appointment in advance. I searched the keyword "museum" on Google Maps, and was unexpectedly attracted by the appearance of this Ryogoku Art Museum in Sumida Ward. I changed into waterproof white shoes and came here in the rain. It just so happens that the exhibition is changing today, and Katsushika Hokusai’s famous masterpiece #Fuyue三六景The Great Wave off Kanagawa, yes, is the picture on the 1000 yen banknote that will be issued in July! The huge waves of Kanagawa River and the snow-capped Mount Fuji in the distance are sketched in Ukiyo-e style. The works are combined in various products and applications, which is similar to Taiwan's cultural and creative IP products. It's a pity that the original works of the masters cannot be photographed. There is also the #富岳十三六景圣坎奈川潮浪里 made of Lego bricks and mosaic bricks, which actually has an NFT issuance and various joint combinations. It looks super easy to buy. The permanent exhibition introduces the life of Katsushika Hokusai and the evolution of Ukiyo-e creation. The completely black space is matched with recessed lights and acrylic display stands to create a mysterious and surreal atmosphere. There are also lifelike wax figures of Mr. Hokusai painting, which are so lifelike and amazing! You can spend about 30-60 minutes in this small exhibition hall. You can’t take pictures inside, so just take more pictures of this super cool building outside. As it has just opened, there are quite a lot of people, half of them are Japanese and half of them are foreigners. There are almost no tourists from Taiwan, Mainland China and South Korea. The ticket price is ¥1,500, so it is considered a less popular attraction!
