Hanami Festive and Happiness Bloom

#cherryblossom2024 The best place to admire sakura in Tokyo There are more than a thousand sakura trees in Ueno Park in Tokyo. In spring, from the end of March to the beginning of April, the park turns into a sea of pink petals. The Ueno Sakura Blossom Festival is one of the largest and most visited in all of Japan. Recommended Take a walk in the cheerful crowd along the main alley Admire the night illumination of the trees How to get there Ueno Park is located on the Yamanote Line. It is easy to get here from anywhere in Tokyo. Ueno Station is just four stops from Tokyo Station. At the station, follow the signs to the side entrance to the park. Sakura planted by the Shogun The first sakura trees on the site of Ueno Park were planted by the legendary Tokugawa Ieyasu, whose appointment as shogun began the Edo period (1603-1868). A busy alley The main alley stretches for about half a kilometer from the main entrance past the zoo and museums. About half of all the sakura trees in the park grow along it. During the period of admiring the flowering, about two million visitors pass through here who want to see a beautiful sight. Eat, drink, have fun Whole families, groups of friends and even colleagues come to the park to celebrate the arrival of Vienna under the cherry blossoms. You are allowed to bring your own food and drinks to picnics, or you can choose from traditional Hanami dishes in one of the trade pavilions: yakitori, takoyaki, yakisobu... Evening lights Picnics continue after sunset, when lanterns are lit along the paths of the park. Visitors come late to see a picture of illuminated flowering trees. If you look closely There is plenty to do in the park at other times of the year. You can visit gorillas and tigers at Japan's oldest Ueno Zoo or take a walk around Shinobazu Pond and see the picturesque red five-story pagoda of Kanei-ji Temple. If you're lucky, you'll meet a geisha: there are about 50 practicing geisha in the neighboring Asakusa district. They rarely perform outdoors, but the hanami season at Ueno Park is considered a special event.
