Khao Chang Phueak - Thong Pha Phum National Park

Another hiking goal for many hikers, which is known as the hardest hiking trail to book. In 2024, the park has changed the booking method to online booking via Google Form, no need to call to book like in the past. The booking date and time can be seen on the park's page. There are constant updates on booking rounds. Since the park limits tourists to only 60 people per day, it fills up very quickly and there is quite a lot of competition. For the Khao Chang Phueak hiking trail, after booking and the park confirms your rights, we must register at the Thong Pha Phum National Park office. You can register 1 day before the trip, starting at 3:30 PM onwards. Then, you must report to the starting point, which is at the intersection in the middle of E Tong village. The officers will divide the group into groups of 10 people/officer. Once everyone is there, you can start walking. The distance to walk is about 8 kilometers and takes about 3 hours. The first part of the trail is a dense forest with lots of trees. It is easy to walk and not very hot. But after the beginning of the San, there are not many trees. The weather is quite hot. Prepare sunscreen. There is a spot to hide from the sun at Huap Chani. Before walking up the long hill to the last hill, you will see the camping ground below with fog covering the ridge. After setting up the tent and resting until you are no longer tired, at around 3:30 PM, the officer will call you to prepare to go up the knife ridge, the highlight of Khao Chang Phuak. The path is quite narrow and steep, requiring a fair amount of rope climbing and climbing skills. It is recommended to bring gloves. If you are afraid of heights, this is not recommended. There are ravines on both sides of the path and it is very scary. You must use your mindfulness and strictly follow the officers. The view from the top of the mountain is very beautiful. You can see the mountain range in all directions without anything blocking it. When you reach the top of Khao Chang Phuak, the officer will give you some time before walking down. It is recommended to bring a headlamp in case it gets dark on the way down. There are 3 restrooms in the camping ground. They are chairs with biodegradable bags provided by the officer for you to wear before doing your business. There is no water source or other facilities. The wind at the camping ground is quite strong.
