Unbranded Journey / Experience Japanese Craftsmanship Culture / Century-old Shops / Takaoka Kanayamachi·Otera Kōhachirō One of the shops in Takaoka's old street, Kanayamachi, was founded in the first year of the Man'en era and has a history of over 150 years. It has been passed down to the sixth generation, with a tea room at the back of the shop. For Otera Kōhachirō, the ancestor from a hundred years ago, it is both a reverence and a commitment. Nothing is more precious than this heritage. From the tea room, you can see about nine stone lanterns in the backyard, each from various temples in Nara, Kyoto, and Uji. In the courtyard, you can see not only the delicacy of the Japanese garden but also an ancient yet enduring sense of the times.
