Water Flowing Upward Recreation Area

This recreation area is located in Dulan Village, Donghe Township, Taitung County, at the 148-kilometer mark on Provincial Highway 11. A stone monument with the words 'Spectacle' stands by the roadside. Originally an agricultural irrigation channel, the water flowing upward is a visual illusion caused by the channel running parallel to the downhill road, with a slope greater than the ground on which people stand. The surrounding landmarks create the illusion that the water is flowing upward. The 'Water Flowing Upward Life Market' is a rural market set up by indigenous cultural workers, selling a variety of souvenirs and small items from the Dulan tribe.
