All Aboard! Taipei Railway Museum Is Fun For All The Family! 🚂

If anyone in your family is interested in trains and railways then this is the place for you! It’s a super cheap museum that you can get to with the National Museum Combo ticket - it is also within a 10 minute walk of the main museum building. Housed in a beautiful old red brick building this museum houses the history of the railways of Taiwan, from the iconic steam engines of the past right upto the high speed rail line that connects Taiwan’s biggest cities. The building is beautifully refurbished and has many exhibits within the rooms, including some mock train stations complete with ticketing offices and platforms. The highlight for sure is the huge model railway that reflects Taipei main station around the 1970’s and 1980’s - it operates display shows at intervals throughout the day. The detail is incredible as it has working railways, accurate streets of Taipei and tiny little people dotted about this huge model world. It also mimics a full day and night city and it’s beautiful to see this huge model city light up when it turns to night. There are some outdoor exhibits too at the back along with a very nice gift shop, it was a lot of railway memorabilia and a lot of locally produced gifts and souvenirs. I found my best keyrings, postcards and fridge magents here! I was really impressed. Its super cheap to enter, especially if you do the Museum combo ticket - it’s about a ten minute walk from the main Museum in Peace Memorial Park.
