The Best View Of Taipei, Elephant Mountain! Free and convenient ( it’s a must do)

Taipei is one of my favourite cities in Asia and this viewpoint is the best way to see this incredible metropolis. It’s a small hike up elephant mountain with various lookouts along the way, to get incredible views of the city and its iconic landmark - Taipei 101. The climb can be quite steep and it does get quite busy and also very hot during summer! I aim for about 8:30 am as it’s nice and cool, not so busy and the weather is calm. Follow the signs for the peak (it’s the shortest journey) there are longer hikes around the base and the rear of the mountain. When you get half way there’s a raised viewing area for great views of downtown, when you get higher and pass the famous elephant rocks you can get 360 views of the whole city. Totally worth going all the way up! I try and aim for a 10am finish as there’s an amazing arabica coffee shop at the base that opens at 10am. There are also public toilets located at the base across the road from the coffee shop. It’s a known landmark so easy to get to by foot / taxi / bus. Or if you want to take the metro get off at Xianghan and follow the signs ( the last stop on the red line / after Taipei 101) It’s also incredible at night but very busy! especially around sunset.
