Red House Theatre aka Hong Lo

This Western-style structure and its surrounding square in Ximending, built by the Japanese in 1908, is home to Taipei's creative and culture business, presenting exhibitions and performances. Originally established to serve as the first government-operated public-run market, the complex is now designated and conserved as a municipal heritage property. The structure has an octagonal entrance and a cross-shaped floor plan where merchants can display their wares. Today, the market has evolved into a hub for the creative and arts industries, complete with an outdoor Market for Artists and Designers in the North Square. You can find many creative Taiwan-made crafts and merchandise here along with some interesting exhibitions on the second floor.
