Originating from Jiangnan—Suzhou Archaeological Museum

Located at No. 321 Shihu North Yuedi Road (Shihu Scenic Area of Shangfang Mountain) in Suzhou, the Suzhou Archaeological Museum is Jiangsu's first thematic museum dedicated to archaeology. It serves as a panoramic showcase of Suzhou's "civilization origins" and "archaeological achievements," covering approximately 10,000 square meters with a total construction area of 8,972.53 square meters. The building features a polygonal geometric design, exuding a strong sense of modernity. The museum traces the entire history of human activity in Suzhou, from the late Paleolithic era of Sanshan Island—through the Majiabang, Songze, Liangzhu, Maqiao, and Post-Maqiao cultures—to the Western Zhou, Spring and Autumn, Warring States, Qin and Han, Three Kingdoms periods, and up to modern times. Through representative excavation findings, primarily pottery, it presents the overarching narrative of Suzhou's historical development, offering visitors an intuitive understanding of the city's rich past. The museum is divided into two permanent exhibition zones: "Originating from Jiangnan—Exploring the Roots of Suzhou's Regional Civilization" and "Splendors of Jiangnan—Discoveries from Suzhou's Archaeological Excavations."
