The impressive step pyramid in the jungle at Koh Ker Ruins

100km from Siem Reap, Cambodia, the Koh Ker ruins are located at the end of an unpaved reddish-brown road through the jungle where the rainforest is lush. After passing through the dilapidated entrance gate, a huge stepped pyramid suddenly appears in front of you. It is over 30m high with 7 steps. The atmosphere is reminiscent of the stepped pyramids of the Maya ruins in the jungle, but the architectural style is clearly different from the many Angkor ruins in Cambodia, so you will be surprised and overwhelmed by its scale. It is also surprising that it was built as a capital after the capital was moved from Angkor. As a result, it was returned to Angkor 20 years later. It is far away, and there is also the Beng Mealea ruins on the way, so a local tour of the two ruins is efficient and convenient. An entrance fee of $15 is charged separately from the tour fee.
