Fancy teppanyaki onboard Dream Cruises?

On the third day onboard Dream Cruise ‘s cruise to nowhere, we succumbed to hunger and a desire for good food so we paid $200 for $250 dining credits which can be used at the speciality restaurants and bars. The Umi Uma restaurant serves Japanese cuisine and Korean bbq. Having read positive reviews on their teppanyaki, we decided to splurge our credits here! 📆Look out for dining promos in the daily planner. It turned out that the Emperor Set had a 20% discount so we got that, and the Dream Ocean Shinto ($65++) (Scroll left for the menu) They have 1.5 hour seatings, so we took the last lunch slot at 2.30pm. What’s the difference between the teppanyaki at a restaurant versus the food court’s? More theatrics, more interaction with the chef. better food variety and an all rounded experience! 😊😊 The meal was decent though the vegetables were too salty, and the garlic fried rice was too bland. The chef cooks up a huge pile of rice so you’re welcome to ask for extra portions. The seafood is fresher here than in the complimentary restaurants (maybe it’s psychological.. since I’m paying for it now) but the chef overcooked the prawns. The Australian Wagyu was cooked perfectly though and I enjoyed that much more than the beef we had previously at Tatsu. 😍😍 By 3.45pm, the restaurant was empty and the other two couples could barely finish their desserts but we persevered because they were quite decent! I liked the banana crepes and ice cream very much. Should you pay for food when your cruise package provides room and board already? We paid for specialty dining on RCL previously to escape the queues and found the specialty dining excellent. If I ever take RCL again, I would pay for the delicious food in a heartbeat. Here on Dream Cruises? If I ever take the cruise again, I would pay for the dining credits so I can make it through the trip more sane, and less hangry.
