Feeling Foxy at Zao Fox Village

Visiting Zao Fox Village in Miyagi Prefecture was like stepping into a magical world! The village is home to over 100 foxes that roam freely in a beautiful mountain setting. When I entered the main enclosure, I was amazed to see foxes of all colors—red, silver, and white—playing, lounging, and curiously watching visitors. Some were curled up in the sun, while others dashed around, leaving tiny paw prints in the snow. Feeding the foxes was a highlight! From a safe platform, I dropped treats for them and watched as they excitedly jumped and yipped. It was adorable and fascinating at the same time. The village also had signs explaining foxes’ importance in Japanese culture, which added a nice touch to the experience. The staff were friendly and made sure both the visitors and the foxes were safe. If you love animals or want a unique adventure, Zao Fox Village is a must-visit.
