Visit to Shirakawa-go Village on February 12, 2025

A rare heavy snowfall a week before departure almost canceled the trip as roads were closed. Fortunately, we managed to complete the journey. We arrived at Shirakawa-go Village at 2 PM. The parking fee was 1000 yen per entry, and the parking lot closed at 5 PM. It was snowing on the day we visited, but the roads were well-plowed and not slippery. To reach the observation deck, you had to queue for the bus on the main road as the path to the deck was buried in snow. There were many people playing in the snow. If you are heading back to Nagoya, it's safer to take the highway. Google Maps led us through mountain roads, and the rain suddenly turned into heavy snow, covering the entire mountain road in white. It was both terrifying and incredibly beautiful.
