[Hokkaido] Shintoku Station, a former strategic point with a quick connection to Sapporo

#0yentravel Shintoku Station is a JR Hokkaido station located inland of Hokkaido, and is a key transportation hub where all express trains stop. Inside the station, there is a Midori no Madoguchi (Green Window), a soba restaurant, and a shop selling local products, so you can enjoy the time you spend waiting for the train. The area around the station has a calm atmosphere, and it is easily accessible from other areas in Hokkaido, making it convenient for stopping by during your trip. However, I felt a little sad that the Furano-Shintoku section of the Nemuro Main Line will be officially abolished in the spring of 2024, and some of the rail access will be lost. Before the abolition, buses were used as a replacement, so I was not able to see the trains actually running, but when I stood at the station, I felt the dignity of the old main line. It was impressive to see Shintoku Station still functioning as a gateway to the region while looking at the history of the railway.
