Shilin (Stone forest) in Yunnan

Getting There - it's best to take a train from Kunming. It takes about 2-3 hours to explore the Stone forest, so it's best to come back to Kunming in the evening, rather than staying in a hotel in Shilin as there is literally nothing else around. About- Stone forest is a set of karst limestone formations and it's a very large park with a changing scenery, from narrow and steep passages to fields with a majestic view of the stones. Be prepared for a lot of walking and climbing. Once you explore the narrow passages and caves at the Major Stone forest, you can get away from the crowds and enjoy the so called Minor Stone Forest and get a view of the stones and truly admore this work of nature.
