Gunma🇯🇵Mizusawa Kannon Temple

Mizusawa Temple (Mizusawa Kannon Temple) is one of the must-see attractions when traveling to Ikaho. Go up the stone steps and pass through the bright red gate to enter the temple. There are the main hall (Guanyin Hall), the Sakya Hall, a bell tower and a pagoda. The two-story hexagonal pagoda has a Vairocana Buddha statue on the second floor, and a rotating pedestal on the first floor, on which six Ksitigarbha Bodhisattvas are enshrined. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is the patron saint of children and travelers. It is said that if you turn the base three times to the left, you will have good luck. According to legend within the temple, the Mizusawa Kannon here has a history of more than 1,300 years; the main hall, bright red gate, and pagoda were built during the Edo period (1603-1868). #2024TravelReview
