Preface to Lilac Lake Park

In the land of Liaoshen, there is a scenic spot called Lilac Lake Park. The area embraces the Hun River and is bordered by the Pu River, leaning against Shencheng and facing Beiling. The mountains and rivers are beautiful, and the scenery is picturesque. As I toured this park, I was moved by the lake’s light and mountain colors and the rich cultural atmosphere, so I composed this piece in the style of the "Preface to the Pavilion of Prince Teng" to record it. It was midsummer, during the dog days of summer. The lake water shimmered, with rippling green waves; the willows on the shore swayed gently, forming rows of green shade. Visitors thronged the park, some strolling along the lakeside, some boating on the lake, some leaning on railings gazing into the distance, each enjoying themselves. On the small island in the center of the lake, green trees shaded pavilions and towers arranged in an orderly yet varied manner. Climbing high to look far, one could see the lake’s light and mountain colors fully; a gentle breeze came, refreshing the mind and spirit. In the past, Lilac Lake was originally a low-lying area overgrown with wild grass, rarely visited by people. By the new century, the government planned to divert water to form a lake, planted trees and created forests, thus forming today’s scenic spot. The lake is named after the lilac, symbolizing its fragrance; the park centers on the lake, combining nature and culture. Every spring and summer, lilac flowers bloom, filling the air with fragrance, attracting crowds of visitors who come to admire the flowers and scenery, reluctant to leave. The park is fully equipped with facilities and rich in cultural atmosphere. A fitness trail is built along the lakeside for citizens to exercise in the morning and run at night; the island in the lake has a cultural plaza where there are often artistic performances, with singing and dancing in harmony. There is also a children's playground and a water park, perfect for family outings. The park is filled with sculptures, some depicting historical figures, others folk legends, all vivid and captivating. As I toured Lilac Lake Park, I saw its beautiful lake and mountain scenery, breathtaking; its cultural landscapes, rich and colorful. This is a perfect combination of nature and culture, also a microcosm of Shenyang’s urban development. May Lilac Lake Park forever preserve its beauty and be cherished by future generations.
