Lao Ting in Ciwu Village, Zhuji, Zhejiang

Lao Ting is the most typical ancient residential building in the central residential area of Ciwu. It is large in scale and has obvious characteristics of its time. It is called Lao Ting (Old Hall) by the villagers because of its long history. It was built by the 20th-generation ancestor of the Yu family in Ciwu, whose name was Jingdao, during the late Ming Dynasty, around 1620-1630. Lao Ting faces west to east. The first entrance is a screen wall, rebuilt during the Republic of China period, 4.8 meters high and 10.5 meters long. The second entrance is the main hall, with the original wooden structure from the Ming Dynasty, featuring a large volume, rough materials, and simple carvings. The third entrance is the rear hall, with two floors and seven bays. It is designated as an immovable cultural relic of Zhuji City.
