Half-Day Review of Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park

A half-day visit to Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park is totally doable! (We went from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and had to rush back to catch the show "The Moon Backside.") Transportation: Take Metro Line 16 to Lingang Dadao Station, which takes about 1 hour. Then, transfer to Bus 1135 or opt for a taxi/walking. Key Highlights Not to Miss: 1. Download the 公主号 app for real-time maps and daily show schedules. 2. Our itinerary (we didn’t try any rides): 10:00 AM: Arrived at the park and headed straight to the Arctic/Iceberg Zone to catch the Beluga (white whale) show at 11:00 AM. After the show, we tried to see the killer whale show, but the seating was packed. You need to buy a VIP ticket for 120 yuan to get good seats. Instead, we queued for the sea lion show at 11:45 AM. It was crowded, but we recommend sitting in the front row or on the left aisle for interactive moments with the performers. Then, we explored the jellyfish and penguin exhibits, and stumbled upon a surprise outdoor show along the way. 12:40 PM: Queued for the killer whale show at 1:30 PM. If you don’t want to get wet, choose seats in row P15. 3:00 PM: Watched the sea lion show again (it was so fun we had to see it twice). 3:30 PM: Entered the Underwater Zone to watch the Chinese-style mermaid show, then stopped by the Ultraman exhibit before leaving. Tips to Know: The park’s app offers 福袋 (Lucky Bags) randomly, which may include plush toys, food, etc. Food inside the park is expensive! If you’re not picky, bring your own snacks and drinks. If you plan to buy food, Burger King and Cantonese rice rolls (腸粉) are the best value. If your budget allows, consider purchasing VIP tickets (no need to queue, very convenient): Killer whale = 120 yuan Sea lion/dolphin = 80 yuan Beluga whales can be viewed for free from the back area.
