The plum blossoms here are in bloom, come and see, but don't drive.

Minhang, Shanghai The plum garden in Xinzhuang has been around for many years. The plum trees, once small saplings, have grown considerably and now form a beautiful canopy. With the recent rise in temperature, they are in full bloom. This is perhaps the best time of year to visit, but please don't drive here on weekends. Take a taxi to the vicinity and walk over, or take the subway to the nearest station and enjoy a stroll to the garden. The reason is that Hongxin Road, at the west gate of the plum garden, is a two-way, single-lane road—just one lane in each direction. It's very narrow and usually congested with a mix of pedestrians and vehicles, with cars often having to drive down the middle of the road. Now, it's even worse. It's virtually impossible to make a right turn from the west side of the Meilong West Road service road. Buses also use this lane, so you can imagine the traffic jam. I drove there, but I only intended to pass by. Since I couldn't make the right turn, I had to make a left and take a long detour along Meilong West Road to reach my destination. During my detour, I noticed many cars trying to park in nearby parking lots. Meilong West Road was completely jammed with cars from west to east, and parked cars lined the roadside, occupying several lanes. Currently, if you drive on this road, only two cars might be able to turn right on a green light. The main issue is that right-turning vehicles aren't regulated by traffic signals, and the road ahead remains blocked. So, a journey that typically takes 13 minutes could now take half an hour or more. Traffic police are managing the situation, but their efforts are insufficient. I've always felt this narrow road is problematic. It's simply too narrow. It should either be turned into a pedestrian walkway, with other roads widened to divert traffic, or, during peak seasons like spring holidays with high pedestrian traffic, this road should be entirely pedestrianized, with all vehicles directed to park elsewhere. However, there doesn't seem to be much parking nearby, and the walk from farther parking areas would be quite long. This issue needs to be addressed by the government. Weekends + good weather, if you choose to drive, a day trip to the plum garden becomes a day trip in a river of cars.
