Shanghai Zhang Garden

Originally purchased by businessman Zhang Shuhe, it became the largest private garden of its time after multiple expansions and renovations. It opened to the public in 1885, transitioning from free to paid admission, and became the largest public activity space for Shanghai residents. However, it declined with the establishment of other amusement parks. The current Zhang Garden has been reborn after reconstruction into a well-planned and splendid area. Featuring Shikumen architecture with warehouse-like gates, it combines modern boutiques, cultural and creative spaces, and dining options.
