[Joroko Rock] A scenic spot where the legend of Yoshitsune is also passed down!

The walking path continues from Shimamui Beach... but as you'd expect from Shakotan, there are quite a few ups and downs. If you walk along the cliffs for an hour, listening to the birds and taking in the spectacular views, you'll see the Tateiwa rock below you. This is Joro-koiwa. There's a sign at the site explaining the origin of the name, but whether it's fiction or not, it's quite a sad story. [Access] Shimamu Beach is just under two hours by car from Sapporo Station. There are also buses from Sapporo and Otaru.
