Samariá Gorge

Samariá Gorge in Crete is one of Europe’s most famous hikes, stretching 16km through dramatic cliffs, pine forests, and the narrow “Iron Gates.” Begin early, wear sturdy shoes, and pack water, snacks, and sun protection. The descent is steep and rocky, so pace yourself. Along the way you may spot wild kri-kri goats and ruins of old villages. At the end, relax with a swim and meal in Agia Roumeli before boarding the ferry back.
