Korea's Dongdaemun

Dongdaemun, originally known as Heunginjimun, is one of the eight city gates of Seoul, the capital of South Korea. Built during the Joseon Dynasty to defend the capital, the city walls date back to 1396, giving them a history of over 600 years. The current Dongdaemun has undergone multiple renovations over the years. Today, only the protective walls and the gate remain, and it has been designated as South Korea's National Treasure No. 1. The surrounding area has developed into the country's largest wholesale and retail district, serving as a hub for popular culture and trends.
