A Spring Pilgrimage: Cherry Blossoms and Lu Xun’s Legacy at Tohoku University

The campus was awash with delicate pink and white sakura, their petals fluttering like snow in the breeze, casting a dreamy glow over the historic buildings. As I strolled beneath the flowering trees, I sought out the statue of Lu Xun—the towering figure of Chinese literature who studied here from 1904 to 1906. Standing solemnly in the soft spring light, his expression pensive, the statue seemed to reflect his profound contemplations on the fate of his homeland. Gazing at his likeness amid the falling petals, I couldn’t help but imagine the young Lu Xun walking these same grounds over a century ago. The blend of fleeting cherry blossoms and enduring legacy made this journey to Sendai a deeply moving experience, where beauty and history intertwined.
