Ephesus, the Pompeii of Turkey.

We continued our road trip in Turkey! We set off from Cesme and drove our "big donkey" to Selcuk, a World Heritage Site, and Ephesus, known as the Pompeii of Turkey in the West. We opened the history of Europe, from ancient Greece to the Ottoman Empire, where wisdom and civilization intertwined. We paid 60 lira to enter Ephesus, the best-preserved classical city on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean. It was founded in the 10th century BC by Athenian colonists and was one of the most important Greek cities in its early days. It was an important center of early Christianity, and the mountain here is said to be the last residence of Mary. Looking at the ruins in front of us, we imagined the wisdom and power of Ephesus shining on this land 3,000 years ago. Lazy cats basked in the sun on the stone pillars from 3,000 years ago, carefree. We had a great time walking and playing along the way, but we lost track of time. By the time we arrived at Pamukkale, a World Natural and Cultural Heritage Site in Denizli, only the afterglow of the sunset remained, and we were very sorry that we couldn't enter the scenic area. To avoid affecting the more exciting scenery later, we took a few simple photos of the exterior and continued on our way. We relied on navigation at night, but sometimes the navigation failed. We accidentally entered a dark town with no people or sounds, and winding narrow roads. We didn't know if there were castles and vampires ahead, haha. Safety first in a foreign country, so we didn't follow the navigation through the town and instead took another route to Fethiye, arriving at midnight. We didn't expect it to be so difficult for four foreigners to find a hotel in this famous tourist spot at midnight. It took us more than an hour to find a youth hostel where we could stay, and we fell asleep as soon as we lay down.
