| Sejong, South Korea's "Administrative Capital." Sejong Special Self-Governing City is located in central South Korea, in the northeast of South Chungcheong Province. It is bordered by Cheongwon County of North Chungcheong Province to the east, Gongju City to the west, Daejeon Metropolitan City to the south, and Cheonan City to the north. It is approximately 120 km from Seoul. 🌹Sejong Attractions Beomeosa Temple Founded in the mid-Goryeo period, Beomeosa Temple's Geuknakjeon Hall is a three-story stone pagoda. The four-sided statues on it are very famous for their ornate and unique craftsmanship. The stone statues, "Gye-yu-myeong Jeon-ssi Amitabha Buddha Triad Stone Statue," "Gi-chuk-myeong Amitabha Buddha and Bodhisattvas Stone Statue," and "Maitreya Bodhisattva Ban-ga Stone Statue," are designated as Korean national treasures. Bear Tree Park This is a large outdoor garden of about 100,000 pyeong (approx. 330,578 sq m). The "treasures" here are black bears and yellow carp. There are over 100 black bears and over 500 yellow carp. Of course, there are also tropical plants, flowers, waterfalls, and other small animals. Gobok Reservoir This is a large agricultural reservoir that provides irrigation water for crops. The reservoir is home to a rich variety of fish species, including snakehead, goldfish, carp, and catfish. Gobok Reservoir covers an area of 770,000 square meters. Next to the reservoir are Gobok Park and the Outdoor Sculpture Park. When the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, the scenery here is picturesque. Geumiseong Fortress This mountain fortress is also known as the Iron Jar Fortress due to its steep terrain and sturdy construction. The walls of Geumiseong Fortress are approximately 714 m long and are built on the 424-meter summit of Geumsung Mountain.
