Rovinj, Across the Sea from Venice｜Once Connected

🚗Leaving Piran, Slovenia🇸🇮, and continuing south, we enter Croatia🇭🇷 and arrive in Rovinj. Rovinj is a coastal town on the Istrian peninsula in western Croatia, renowned for its charming Mediterranean atmosphere, rich history, and natural landscapes. Rovinj's history dates back to Roman times. It was once part of the Byzantine Empire and the Venetian Republic, and has been deeply influenced by Italian culture. 🔸St. Euphemia's Basilica: A 17th-century Baroque church, the tallest building in town. Climb to the top for panoramic views. Its bell tower is modeled after St. Mark's Campanile in Venice. Standing in the square in front of the church⛪️, a local pointed across the sea and told me that Venice was over there.
