[Trip Moment Delivery.🗞️] On this trip, I visited the miracle above the canyon, Puente Nuevo in Ronda! 🇪🇸🌉✨ 🛄ㅣPuente Nuevo Travel Experience At the heart of Ronda, a highland city stretching along the Andalusian Mountains, lies the mighty Tajo Canyon (El Tajo), dividing the city in two. Spanning this deep and breathtaking canyon is the massive stone bridge Puente Nuevo (Puente Nuevo). Literally meaning "new bridge," this bridge has been a symbol of Ronda since its completion in the late 18th century. 🌄 First Impressions – Impressive Scale and Cliffs As I approached the bridge from the city center, the massive arch spanning the cliffs caught my eye from afar. The stone bridge, reaching a height of approximately 98 meters, stands tall on the sheer cliffs of the Tajo Canyon, its awe-inspiring presence taking your breath away the moment you first encounter it. Beneath the bridge, the Guadalevín River (Río Guadalevín) flows, and the layers of rock on the cliffs, carved by the deep gorge, stand majestically, testifying to centuries of history. ⛰️ 🌉 View from the Bridge Standing on the bridge, the views unfold dramatically. On one side, the medieval vestiges of the Old Town (La Ciudad) are visible, while on the other, the modern buildings of the New Town (El Mercadillo) unfold. The white houses lining the cliff, the Sierra de las Nieves mountain range in the distance, and the winding river below create a panoramic view! 😙 📸 Best Photo Spot The true beauty of the Puente Nuevo can be best appreciated not only from the bridge itself, but also from the viewpoint at the bottom of the gorge. Descending the hiking trail from the new town, you'll find a spot with a commanding view of the entire bridge. The contrast between the arched stone structure and the cliffs is truly spectacular. As dusk fell, the sun bathed the bridge and the cliffs in orange, making it impossible to stop snapping my camera. 🏰 History and Stories The bridge holds more than just a bridge. Completed in the late 18th century after nearly 40 years of construction, it boasts a small room in its center that was reportedly once used as a prison. Looking down into the gorge from here, the historical events of the Spanish Civil War are evoked, offering a sense of time, not just a beautiful landscape, but a profound sense of time.🫠 📌ㅣAddress Puente Nuevo, C.
