The ruins of the Roman Empire are scattered in the center of the city. Modern roads pass through temples and arenas. Ancient city walls intermittently surround parks and residences. Although only ruins remain of many sites, walking through the former economic and political core still feels like traveling back in time. It is hard to imagine how these large-scale public construction projects were completed by manpower in an era without powered machinery, and how difficult it was for the capital of the empire to consolidate territories with different cultures and languages ​​while also having to receive pilgrims pouring in from various countries. The Roman Empire, which lasted for more than 15 centuries, was once so prosperous that it ruled all the countries around the Mediterranean. But now, 700 years later, people come here only for sightseeing. Looking back at the rise and fall of history from the perspective of future generations always seems so magical. In addition to various ancient Roman ruins, my favorite is the Trevi Fountain. My only impression of it was the FENDI fashion show several years ago. I didn’t have any special expectations and thought it was just a fountain, but I was amazed. The location of the fountain happened to be surrounded by three houses. The surround sound effect in a movie theater made the sound of water more three-dimensional, and the flowing water sliding over the statues also made the muscle lines more vivid. The whole fountain is integrated with the design of the building, and the crowded tourists seem to be integrated into the design. It is a very immersive space. Italy is really Eataly, the food never fails. The carbonara pasta has thick mayonnaise and crispy, fragrant bacon; the Amatriciana classic tomato pasta has a hard but flavorful core, and even the pizza you buy at the supermarket will have stringy texture. The tiramisu is similar to the one you eat in Taiwan. The filling of the raw milk bun is very refreshing but you will feel sick of it if you eat a whole one. The water from all the taps in Rome is at a temperature that can cause freezing. The sparkling water from the roadside drinking fountains is also delicious. The bus times and restaurant opening hours in Rome are purely for reference. It's really frustrating. The two restaurants I originally wanted to eat at were not open. Fortunately, the small restaurant I randomly checked was very cute. The waiter felt sorry for me because I got so red after drinking a glass of Spritz.
